Fuel Supply Notice (Tuesday, September 11): Hurricane Florence continues to intensify, as weather conditions continue to deteriorate across much of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic U.S. Mandatory evacuations have spiked demand for fuel throughout North and South Carolina, and Virginia.
PAPCO | World Fuel Services supply and logistics teams are working around the clock to deliver but supplies are becoming limited. We strongly recommend you closely monitor your fuel usage and take as many fuel savings measures as possible.
There are also a number of things you can do now to ensure the security and the viability of your fuel operations. For those with underground or above ground fuel storage, here are a few things to consider:
- Record tank gauge readings before you take tanks out of service.
- Check fill caps and adapters and make sure they are locked in place.
- Check all other openings where water could enter, including the interstitial space of a double wall tank.
More tips on how to safeguard your fuel islands and tanks, and how to safely resume business operations are in a subsequent post.
